FAQ

Trust4Future aims to develop deep skills in areas of digital trust, including cryptography, blockchain, Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and AI and cybersecurity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Will It Cost?

The programme is free of charge and will run with online presentations and hands-on workshops. You can pre-register your interest here.

What Will I Get At the End?

You can attend the course and learn, but if you want to gain an award certificate, we run tests at the end of each unit. If you successfully pass these tests, you will be awarded a completion certificate.

When Will It Run?

The first training programme runs from March 2025 to June 2025 and will involve four online workshops covering areas of digital trust, such as cryptography, blockchain, digital identity, AI and cybersecurity, and Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC). This will involve online lectures, hands-on practical sessions and guest speakers. An engagement conference will run on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Edinburgh and Istanbul (online or in-person).

Will I Get Hands-on Experience

We aim to run practical online workshops with hands-on experience and practical demonstrations. This will involve using Juypter notebooks that integrate Python code. This means that you will not need to install any software for code development.

Are The Lectures Interactive?

The workshops include a two-hour lecture and have integrated fun tests that cover the main concepts of the lecture. As the lectures are presented, you can ask questions from the presenter. There will also be practical demonstrations of key concepts.

Do You Assume Any Background Knowledge?

Our main focus is for those attending the programme to be interested and, hopefully, passionate about digital trust and building a more secure, trusted and resilient digital world – along with the opportunities that this will bring.

Workshops

We intend to run four – free to attend – online workshops in March, April, May, and June 2025 and one conference in June 2025. Each online workshop will consist of:

  • A two-hour online lecture.
  • A 1-2 hour practical/hands-on session.
  • A one-hour guest talk from an industry professional.

Online Lectures

These lectures will cover the fundamental aspects of areas related to digital trust.

Engagement Conference

We will be holding a jointly run conference in Edinburgh and Istanbul on Tuesday, 24 June 2024. It will be presented online and in-person, and involve guest speakers, and prizes for those who have achieved excellent performance on the programme, along with the future roll-outs and opportunities for innovation.

Practical/Demo Sessions

With the two-hour online practical/demo sessions for each workshop, we will provide hands-on experience of using several areas of digital trust, including for cryptography, digital ID, AI and Cybersecurity, and blockchain applications. This will be presented within an innovative set of Jupyter notebooks. These will allow each attendee to store their practical progress. For this, we are using jupyerhub to support the easy integration of Python code:

Guest Speakers

We aim to keep our content up-to-date and have a range of guest speakers from experts in industry and academia. More details on this will be published soon. All of the talks will be recorded for later catch-up.
